Supporting the Next Generation of Champions

At Advanced Physio and Sports Injury, we believe that success in sport is built on far more than talent alone. Behind every athlete is a team dedicated to keeping them healthy, strong and performing at their very best.

That’s why we’re proud to announce our sponsorship of Ronny Barnes, in partnership with Thomas Halliwell, as he continues his remarkable journey through amateur boxing.

A Boxer Making His Mark

After just 18 months of competitive boxing, Ronny has already established himself as one of the country’s most exciting young talents.

His achievements include:

  • England Boxing National Championships Bronze Medallist
  • Two-time Northwest England ABA Champion

These accomplishments become even more impressive when you consider the level of competition he has faced.

On his route to national success, Ronny has defeated some of the best young boxers in Britain, including:

  • A four-time Northwest Champion who has represented England and former bronze medallist at the National Championships.
  • A former England Boxing National Championships Gold medallist, a five-time Yorkshire Champion and multiple-time England representative.
  • A four-time East Midlands Champion.

Many of these opponents had more than three times the competitive experience Ronny possessed, making his rapid rise through the ranks even more remarkable.

His determination, work ethic and willingness to continuously improve have already seen him announce himself on the national stage and this is only the beginning.

Why Physiotherapy Matters in Elite Boxing

Boxing is one of the most physically demanding sports in the world.

Success isn’t simply about punching power or fitness. Every movement from footwork and balance to speed, reaction time and endurance places huge demands on the body. Training camps involve countless hours of sparring, strength work, conditioning and technical drills, all of which increase the risk of injury if recovery isn’t properly managed.

This is where physiotherapy plays a vital role.

At APSI, our goal isn’t just to help athletes recover after injury. We work proactively to keep them performing at their highest level throughout training and competition.

Professional-level physiotherapy can help athletes:

  • Recover more effectively between training sessions.
  • Identify and address small issues before they become serious injuries.
  • Improve mobility, flexibility and movement efficiency.
  • Optimise strength and biomechanics.
  • Reduce injury risk during high-intensity training.
  • Return to competition safely following injury.
  • Maintain consistent performance throughout a demanding season.

For athletes competing at Ronny’s level, every training session matters. Missing weeks through injury can slow development and impact performance, making effective injury prevention and recovery just as important as the training itself.

Supporting Performance On and Off the Ring

Through this sponsorship, APSI will be supporting Ronny with expert physiotherapy, injury management, rehabilitation and performance-focused care throughout his journey.

By helping him recover efficiently and stay physically prepared, we aim to ensure he can continue training, competing and progressing towards even greater achievements.

As physiotherapists, we understand that elite performance isn’t achieved through talent alone. It comes from consistency, resilience and having the right support network behind you.

A Partnership Built on Excellence

We’re equally proud to be working alongside Thomas Halliwell, whose support demonstrates a shared commitment to helping young athletes reach their full potential.

Investing in local sporting talent not only helps individual athletes succeed but also inspires the next generation of competitors across our community.

Looking Ahead

Ronny has already achieved what many boxers spend years working towards.

With national medals, regional titles and victories over some of Britain’s top young boxers, his future is incredibly bright.

Everyone at Advanced Physio and Sports Injury is excited to be part of that journey, providing the expert physiotherapy support needed to help him continue performing at the highest level.

We look forward to following Ronny’s progress over the coming years and wish him every success as he continues to pursue his ambitions inside the ring.

The journey is only just beginning and we’re proud to be in his corner.
